Probate Records at Missouri State Archives
The St. Louis probate records dating from 1802 to 1900 are available online as part of the Missouri Judicial Records collection at the Missouri State Archives. The Missouri State Archives filmed and digitized the original records.
City Wills
The Index to St. Louis City Wills is based on microfilm copies of St. Louis Probate Court records. The microfilm is available in the History and Genealogy Department. The index is an ongoing project. Additional years / volumes will be added as they are completed. Family History Library (FHL) film numbers are included for the convenience of researchers living outside of the St. Louis area.
An index to wills dating 1816 – 1877 (Books A – L) is available in print at call no. R 977.865 S145.
Photocopies of indexed articles may be requested by email from the History and Genealogy Department. Limit of three searches per request. Please review the library's lookup policy.
