Chronologically
American Civil War
The following bibliography of published materials is drawn from the collections of History & Genealogy. This bibliography identifies sources for specific actions, connects those actions to the larger campaigns, and provides dating for the beginning and end of each military action. This bibliography is sorted chronologically by the beginning of each Engagement and has been divided up by years.
Begin references the beginning date of the action.
End references the end date of the action.
Actions include individual battles, sieges, raids, skirmishes and other conflicts. In many cases, actions have multiple names. The Battle of Monroe's Crossroads is also known as The Battle of Fayetteville Road and Kilpatrick's Shirttail Skedaddle. Every effort has been made to include entries for each alternate name. Names have been abbreviated to "Monroe's Crossroads".
CWSAC Campaigns are based on summaries developed by the Civil War Sites Advisory Commission (CWSAC) as part of the American Battlefield Protection Program established within the United States National Park Service.
State is the location where action transpired. If it occured in multiple states, multiple entries have been created.
Call # references the Dewey Decimal number in H&Gs Collection where you can locate the material. At this time, Civil War resources are predominantly located on Headquarters Tier 4 in the 973s.
