St. Peter's Church was founded on Reformation day in 1867 by a group of German and Swiss residents from Frankfort Station and the surrounding area. The congregation constructed a white frame building for worship services. By 1912, the white frame structure was proving too small for the congregation and the architectural firm of Worthman & Steinbach was hired to design the church on 12 West Sauk Trail in Frankfort, Ill.
