Empowering Encore Entrepreneurs

The Empowering Encore Entrepreneurs series is an 8-week program for new entrepreneurs that are 55 years old or older. Participants will develop skills through expert-led presentations and workshops. Applications will be accepted February 1-29.

St. Louis County Library Foundation’s Favorite Author Series and Left Bank Books present suspense author Gregg Hurwitz for a discussion and signing of the latest thriller in his internationally bestselling Orphan X series, “Lone Wolf.” The event will take place on Thursday, February 15 at 7:00 p.m. at the Daniel Boone Branch, 300 Clarkson Rd., Ellisville, MO 63011. The program is free and open to the public. Books will be available for purchase at the event from Left Bank Books.

Black History Celebration 2024

St. Louis County Library will host a Black History Celebration in February. The theme for 2024 is “African American Arts: Inspiring, Impacting, and Influencing Every Generation.” Events include performances by the Black Rep, a jazz concert, a gospel celebration, author events, dance workshops, and more.

St. Louis County Library’s Black History Celebration is pleased to host a special event with Dr, Uché Blackstock, author of “Legacy: A Black Physician Reckons with Racism in Medicine.” The event will take place on Thursday, February 15, 7:00 p.m. at the Florissant Valley Branch, 195 New Florissant Rd. St. Louis County Library’s Black History Celebration is pleased to host a special event with NPR Weekend Edition Sunday host Ayesha Rascoe, editor of “HBCU Made: A Celebration of the Black College Experience.” The event will take place on Thursday, February 8, 7:00 p.m. at the Ethical Society of St. Louis, 9001 Clayton Rd, St. Louis MO 63117. Ayesha Rascoe will be in conversation with St. Louis Public Radio reporter Marissanne Lewis-Thompson.

Kranzberg Jazz Jam Presented by Kranzberg Art Foundation

Musician and educator Harvey Lockhart hosts the Kranzberg Jazz Jam every first Thursday of the month at the Lewis and Clark Branch. Each jam will feature a performance by some of St. Louis' finest jazz musicians, along with the opportunity for local musicians from the community to participate. Local musicians should bring their instruments. Keyboard and drums will be provided.
