The St. Louis County Library Foundation has received a $450,000 donation from the James S. McDonnell Family Foundation to sponsor a new St. Louis County Library (SLCL) bookmobile. This generous donation marks the fourth gift this year from local organizations and businesses to upgrade SLCL’s aging bookmobile fleet. SLCL has made school bookmobile replacement a major priority in 2023 to ensure the Library District can continue providing equitable services to students in St. Louis County. Great Southern Bank, the St. Louis Cardinals and Emerson have all made donations to sponsor new bookmobiles. The new units will hit the road in the second half of 2024.

St. Louis County Library Foundation’s Westfall Politics & History Series and the Missouri History Museum’s Thursday Nights at the Museum Series present renowned historian H. W. Brands for a discussion and signing of “Founding Partisans: Hamilton, Madison, Jefferson, Adams, and the Brawling Birth of American Politics.” The event will take place on Thursday, December 7 in the Lee Auditorium at the Missouri History Museum, 5700 Lindell Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63112. H.W. Brands talk will start at 6:30 p.m. followed by a book signing session at 7:30 p.m.

The event will take place on Thursday, November 30 at 7:00 p.m. at the Grant’s View Branch of the St. Louis County Library, 9700 Musick Rd., St. Louis MO, 63123. St. Louis County Library Foundation and the JCC of St. Louis are pleased to host an SLCL Authors @ the J event with leading sociologist, Adia Harvey Wingfield, author of “Gray Areas: How the Way We Work Perpetuates Racism and What We Can Do to Fix It.” The event will take place on Monday, November 27, at 7:00 p.m. at the JCC’s Staenberg Family Center – Mirowitz Performing Arts Center, 2 Millstone Campus Drive, St. Louis, MO 63146. St. Louis County Library and The Novel Neighbor bookstore are thrilled to announce the second annual St. Louis area book festival celebrating teen readers! The St. Louis Teen Book Festival will take place on Saturday, December 2, from 1:00-5:30 p.m. at Ladue Horton Watkins High School, 1201 S. Warson Road, St. Louis MO 63124. The event is free and open to all readers. The festival will feature book talks, author signings, and meet-and-greet opportunities with 19 amazing young adult authors.
