Archdiocese of St. Louis |
|
The
St. Louis area has a rich Catholic
history, stemming back to its French
heritage in the 1700s. The department's
largest Catholic source is "St.
Louis Archdiocesan Parish Records,"
a set of 242 microfilm rolls.
These films contain the images of more
than 200 years of original parish
records from approximately 300 parishes
and missions, in approximately 2,500
volumes. The earliest filmed records are
from the 1760s. Special
Collections' new publication,
Guide
to St. Louis Catholic Archdiocesan
Parish Records, lists
St. Louis Archdiocesan parish
records and related Catholic sources
that SC has available in microfilm,
microfiche, and printed format.
Did
My Ancestor's City and Town have a
Catholic Parish or Mission Church?
It is helpful see which towns in a
county or in a specific area had a
Catholic Parish or Mission Church where
they might have left records of
baptisms, marriages, first communions or
confirmations.
