Branch History

In light of St. Louis County Library’s mission, the new Asian Center houses a collection of materials geared specifically to the interests and needs of the Asian population in St. Louis County. The collection features books, periodicals, videos, and various kinds of reference materials. More specifically, the collection includes books in Chinese language, English language, as well as bilingual (Chinese and English).

Additional resources are an online Chinese language periodical database called Qikan (which is available through the library website) plus three public computers that are outfitted for Internet access. Finally, a number of bilingual computer classes, and a variety of interesting cultural programs are available to patrons. Other Asian language materials (e.g., Indian, Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese, etc.) will be added to the collection in the near future.
